The carpets show human beings in different living conditions. In their diverse situations people are knotted and interwoven to each other and to their individual surroundings. By rearranging and interweaving the individual elements of the basic photographs I use for these virtual carpets, patterns arise. For some of them I use lots of small, very artificial parts, for others larger and more clear ones. So some of the patterns look like carpets woven from silk, others are looking more rough like being made from thick wool. The working process for these virtual carpet I call photo.fragmentation. I'm working them out on my computer, which includes a lot of drawing.
Carpets coming in 150 x 150 cm or 150 x 225 cm are printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art Canvas. They are presented hanging on the wall from brackets like tapestries. The smaller ones with 80 x 80 cm are printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art Photo Rag.
